APPROACH

Dr. Ahmadinia operates from an integrative health perspective in which she helps her clients achieve a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing and not merely the absence of symptoms or difficulties. With extensive experience in research supported interventions including mindfulness-based, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioral approaches, Dr. Ahmadinia’s approach is informed by evidence and focuses on the whole person. In order to individualize treatment, Dr. Ahmadinia accounts for your unique set of circumstances, as well as physical, emotional, cultural, and environmental influences that impact your health and wellbeing. 

Our life experiences and the relationships we have over a lifetime largely impact the patterns we develop, how we see ourselves, and how we interact with the world around us. However, for many of us these thoughts and beliefs may get in the way of us from moving towards the life that we want. The stress from these experiences can profoundly impact our physical and emotional health, further contributing to our suffering. We will expand awareness of your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors and appreciate what is working for you and what is not. I balance self-reflection with change in service of giving you the freedom to choose behaviors and actions that are consistent with your values. Understanding yourself and your experiences in a compassionate manner can strengthen self-confidence and resilience, leading you to build stronger relationships, be open to new possibilities, and ultimately to live a fuller life.

 

WHAT TO EXPECT

The first few sessions will be spent discussing what brought you to therapy and what issues I might be able to assist you with. During this initial phase, we will collaboratively create a plan for moving forward. Therapy can be time-limited, or an ongoing process depending on your needs and interests. Together, we will establish mutually agreed-upon therapy goals.
